What Asé Means

In many African traditions, Asé represents life force, intention, and the power to create transformation. It is affirmation. It is the ability to speak truth and move with purpose.

Our name reflects our belief that healing is not about becoming someone new. It is about reconnecting with the strength, clarity, and confidence that already live within you.

Asé Counseling & Empowerment Services

Healing starts where you feel seen.

At Asé Counseling & Empowerment Services, we believe therapy should feel like a space where you can finally exhale—a place where you don’t have to perform, hold everything together, or explain your existence just to be understood. It’s a space designed for you to simply be, without pressure or pretense.

If you are searching for therapy for anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, or major life transitions, you may already feel overwhelmed. You might be the dependable one, the high achiever, the strong friend, or the person everyone leans on. On the outside, things may appear together, but internally you may feel anxious, emotionally exhausted, disconnected, or unsure of who you are beyond what you do for others.

We provide virtual therapy for those ready to better understand themselves, break unhealthy patterns, and create meaningful change. Our work is rooted in compassion, cultural awareness, and authentic connection. Here, you can feel seen, supported, and empowered—while learning to care for yourself with the same energy you give to everyone else. You are not too much. You are not behind. You are not broken. You are human.

Meet the Team

  • Paisley Jenkins, LCMHC, QS

    Founder / Clinical Director

Hey, I’m Paisley, and I’m really glad you’re here.

I created Asé Counseling & Empowerment Services to be more than just a therapy practice. I wanted it to feel like a space where people could show up fully, honestly, and without judgment. A place where you do not have to have all the answers, hold everything together, or pretend you are okay when you are not.

I believe therapy is one of the few places where you get to pause and truly listen to yourself. It is a space for reflection, healing, unlearning, and becoming. My work centers around helping people better understand themselves, break unhealthy patterns, and build a healthier relationship with who they are right now, not just who they are trying to become.

I am passionate about working with people who have spent so much of life pouring into others that they forgot how to pour into themselves. People who are learning how to choose themselves, trust themselves, and give themselves permission to take up space.

My approach is warm, honest, and rooted in compassion. I believe healing happens when you feel safe enough to be real. Together, we create space for self awareness, self acceptance, and the kind of growth that actually feels sustainable.

My goal is to help you feel more like yourself again and to remind you that you are worthy of peace while becoming everything you are called to be.

  • Ashya Black, LCMHCA

    Mental Health Therapist

Hi, I’m Ashya! If you are looking for a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can feel seen, supported, and gently challenged when needed, I’m your girl.I became a therapist because I’ve always been drawn to understanding people including what they carry, what they don’t say out loud, and how their experiences shape the way they move through life. Over time, that curiosity turned into a passion for helping others feel seen, understood, and supported in a real way.

I work with teens, adolescents, and adults who may be navigating anxiety, life transitions, identity shifts, relationship challenges, emotional overwhelm, and the pressure of feeling like they have to keep it all together. I understand how easy it can be to look “fine” on the outside while silently carrying so much underneath. My goal in therapy is to help you better understand yourself, regulate your emotions, strengthen your confidence, and create a life that feels manageable and fulfilling- not just one that looks good from the outside.

Outside of therapy, I enjoy reading, spending time with family, and finding small ways to reset and recharge. I value balance, honest conversations, and creating spaces where people feel comfortable showing up exactly as they are. Therapy with me is a space for honesty, growth, healing, and support. Together, we can do the work to help you feel more grounded, confident, and connected to yourself.

Our Licensed Therapists

Our practice is made up of licensed mental health clinicians serving children, families, and adults across North Carolina through secure online therapy. Each therapist brings specialized training in evidence-based approaches while maintaining a warm, empowerment-centered style.

We believe therapy works best when it feels like a partnership. Our clinicians work collaboratively with you, creating a space where your voice is valued and your experiences are understood.

You can expect thoughtful guidance, practical tools, deeper insight, and space to process at your own pace as you move toward meaningful and lasting growth.
